The array of substance use services encourages people to seek recovery alongside prevention, intervention, and treatment services. Texas Health & Human Services Adult Substance Use Services include: Withdrawal management services, Intensive and supportive residential treatment, Outpatient treatment, Medication assisted treatment, Co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders treatment services, and Specialized female treatment services for pregnant women and women with dependent children.

Texas Health & Human Adult Substance Use Residential Treatment

Texas Health & Human Adult Substance Use Residential Treatment. Residential treatment services for substance use disorders are provided in licensed facilities where people stay for a short period of time. Treatment includes counseling, case management, education, and recovery skills training. There are two types of substance use residential treatment services: Supportive residential treatment, Provides at least six hours of treatment services per week at a licensed treatment center. Persons in this level of treatment often seek employment or job training while staying in a safe and supportive place. Intensive residential treatment, Provides at least 30 hours of treatment services per week at a licensed treatment center. Persons in this level of treatment develop the skills to start and continue their recovery process.

Texas Health and Human Services contracts with 37 local mental health authorities and two local behavioral health authorities to deliver mental health services in communities across Texas. HHSC requires each LMHA and LBHA to evaluate the mental health needs of communities in their area and plan, develop policy, coordinate services and use resources to address those needs.

Texas Al-Anon and Alateen. This is the Texas Al-Anon and Alateen Website. What are Al-Anon and Alateen?Al-Anon is a fellowship of people who have been affected by the alcohol abuse of a loved one. We meet regularly in small groups to absorb the strength and hope of others who have lived with alcoholism. We learn from the experience of others who have lived in similar situations. Alateen meetings are the same as Al-Anon meetings except that Alateen is restricted to people under age 20 who live, or have lived, with someone who abuses alcohol. Alateen meetings include one or two Al-Anon sponsors.
